Your Guide to Chico State Campus

When you think of vacation, going to school might not be exactly what you had in mind, but rest assured, California State University at Chico offers some of the best performances and things to do in the area. Attractions at California State University Chico


Kendall Hall 

Kendall Hall is perhaps the most photographed and recognizable building on campus. Home to the university’s administrative offices, Kendall Hall was built on top of the remains of the Normal Building, which burned down in 1927. You can still see the cornerstones of the two buildings laying atop of each other today. 


Trinity Commons

Trinity Commons was originally named the Free Speech Area when it was established in 1969. The area has always been an environment where students can express themselves and their concerns. In recent years, Trinity Commons has become an entertainment venue with bands playing several times a week. 


Campus Tours

A campus tour is the best way to learn all about the school, its history, and architecture. Held throughout the year typically on Mondays and Fridays, the campus tours are the best way to get a feel for the campus’ vibrant atmosphere.

Chico State Events 


Laxson Auditorium

Experience the excellence of Chico State’s arts program firsthand at Laxson Auditorium. The Auditorium is home to two different performance companies: 

  • School of the Arts 
  • Chico Performances 


Chico Performances focuses on symphony and orchestra performances. These elevated productions of classical artists like Dvorak and Rachmaninoff are sure to add a bit of class to your visit to Chico State. 


The School of the Arts showcases the wide range of talent from the Chico State student body, alumni, and notable artists from around the world. Productions from the School of the Arts at Laxson Auditorium include: 

  • Theatrical productions
  • Choir concerts 
  • Dance showcases
  • Musical concerts 
  • Notable speakers.

Wildcat Athletics

Let’s step away from the arts, and focus more on sports! 


The Wildcats of Chico State are a talented bunch of athletes. The school regularly hosts competitions and games for a bunch of different sports, and while most of them run from Fall to Spring (to keep in line with the school year), some sports like Soccer and Track and Field host games in the summer months.


Going to a game on campus is always a blast, and joining the energy of hundreds of cheering fans is always a great way to spend time on campus. The Wildcats of Chico State are an incredibly talented bunch of athletes. The school regularly hosts competitions and games for a number of different sports for both men and women including:
